Karenni National Women’s Organization
KNWO was founded on March 10th 1993 with the
“visions of a society where Karenni women have equal rights and opportunities as men in the political, economic and social spheres.”
To reach this vision, KNWO seeks to build the capacity of women to be decision makers and leaders in their families and communities, to promote and protect Karenni women's rights locally and globally and to provide necessary services and support to women and children to ensure their well-being.
KNWO has two branches, the first one is in Mae Hong Son Province, Thailand and the second one is in Loikaw Town, Kayah State. The Loikaw branch focuses on providing assistance to women in Loikaw, Demawso, Pruso, Pasaung, Shadaw, Maeset and Bawlakeh Township.
